Chat (Ctrl+L)

Your AI coding assistant lives in the sidebar. Ask questions, get code suggestions, and work through complex problems together.

Opening Chat

Press Ctrl+L (or Cmd+L on Mac) to open the chat sidebar. You can also click the chat icon in the activity bar.

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Ctrl+L — Toggle chat sidebar
  • Ctrl+Shift+L — New chat thread
  • Escape — Close chat

Attachments

GRID supports rich attachments to give the AI full context on your work.

PDF Documents

Drop specs, research papers, or documentation directly into chat.

Images & Screenshots

Share UI designs, error screenshots, or diagrams for visual context.

Code Files

Attach specific files or use @ to reference files from your workspace.

URLs

Paste links to documentation or web resources.

Conversation History

All your chat threads are saved automatically. Access previous conversations from the thread picker at the top of the chat panel.

  • Threads are saved per-workspace
  • Search through older conversations
  • Resume work exactly where you left off

Model Selection

Choose which AI model to use for chat. Click the model name at the bottom of the chat input to switch.
